Man Struck and Killed by DUI Driver in 22nd Avenue

 
Phoenix, AZ (June 25, 2021) – On Thursday, a male pedestrian died in an accident on 22nd Avenue.
 
Officers received the crash report just after midnight at the Indian School Road intersection.
 
Apparently, the man was crossing Indian School Road where he was struck by an eastbound SUV.
 
Responders took the victim to a nearby hospital where he died.
 
The authorities said the victim was not in a crosswalk during the crash. They also said that there is a HAWK or high-intensity activated crosswalk signal west of where the crash happened.
 
Moreover, the involved female SUV driver remained at the accident scene.
 
Police found signs of impairment and arrested the woman. Officers said they later released the female driver.  
Officers are still investigating the incident.
