1 Dead in Perris Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 215 and Nuevo Road

 
PERRIS, CA (May 18, 2022) – Tuesday, a man died in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 215 and Nuevo Road in Perris.
 
The incident happened at around 10:15 a.m. on northbound Interstate 215, north of Nuevo Road.
 
According to reports, the victim stopped an International box truck on the right shoulder to refill the radiator. Also, a companion riding with him helped him.
 
As the victim attempted to secure the hood latch on the driver’s side after topping off the radiator, the driver of a Toyota Tacoma approached in the slow lane.
 
“For an unknown reason, the Toyota drifted onto the shoulder, colliding into the International and the male pedestrian,” CHP spokesman Navarro revealed. “The man succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash.”
 
When responders arrived at the scene, they declared the victim dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the other man nor the pickup driver suffered injuries in the crash.
 
“Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision,” Navarro said.
 
Also, officers questioned the driver but did not make any arrests.
 
Moreover, the crash shut down the No. 3 lane on northbound I-215 until about noon during the investigation.
 
Furthermore, the crash remains under active investigation. The authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the CHP Riverside office at 951-637-8000.
