1 Dead and 1 Injured in Sonoma Accident on Highway 101 near Sonoma-Marin County Line

 
SONOMA, CA (December 13, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, a man died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Sonoma-Marin County Line.
 
The crash involving two pickup trucks and a minivan occurred at around 5″44 p.m. Moreover, it happened on southbound Highway 101, north of Sonoma-Marin County Line.
 
According to officers, the crash started when a Chevrolet Silverado. Occupied by the Willits man and his passenger, the Chevrolet hit the rear of a Ford F250. Apparently, the Ford F250 either slowed or stopped for traffic ahead, said CHP spokesman David deRutte.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t confirmed what caused the Chevrolet to hit the Ford. However, speed might have played a role.
 
“It didn’t look like there was any slowing down approaching the slowed or stopped traffic ahead,” deRutte said. Also, they haven’t clarified how fast that truck was driving at the time of the crash.
 
Then, a Nissan Quest crashed with the two trucks. As a result, the Nissan veered left and hit the highway’s median barrier.
 
Also, the authorities rerouted traffic away from the crash.
 
After the crash, authorities confirmed that the Chevrolet driver, an elderly man, died at the scene. His identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, his female passenger was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
 
Moreover, the drivers of the two other vehicles suffered no injuries.
