57-Year-Old Man Dies after Crash on Central and Powhatan Roads in Apple Valley
Apple Valley, CA (July 1, 2021) – Wednesday evening, a 57-year-old man died, and a 17-year-old male driver sustained critical injuries after a head-on crash on Central and Powhatan Roads.
The fatal head-on crash in Apple Valley happened at around 7:00 p.m. on June 30.
Apple Valley Fire Protection District firefighters responded and located a white 1993 Jeep Wrangler and a white 2004 Mazda 6 on the scene. Both vehicles had major front-end damage.
Reportedly, the Mazda was driving south on Central Road and for an unknown reasons crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the Jeep.
Firefighters then pronounced the driver of the sedan deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, firefighters extricated the Jeep driver and transported him by ambulance to St. Mary’s hospital where he was subsequently airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Moreover, the identity of the deceased man has not been released.
Further, the Apple Valley Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) continues the investigation.
