Police Investigate a Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 near Buckeye Road in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (January 22, 2021) – Early Friday morning, a man sustained severe injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Buckeye Road.

Police reported a collision involving a vehicle that may have been racing with another vehicle right before the crash.

Investigators say a Volkswagen passenger car was traveling westbound negotiating the right curve prior to Buckeye Road, when it lost control, went across all lanes of traffic, struck the cement barrier wall, and rolled in the median facing north, landing on its wheels.

Then the driver and passenger of the Volkswagen got out of the vehicle. However, for reasons still unknown, the passenger laid down in the HOV lane, where he was struck by another vehicle.

Moreover, a blue Nissan Maxima or Altima stopped at the crash scene and a white female passenger with red hair got out of the car and spoke briefly with one of the occupants of the Volkswagen.

Emergency personnel transported the man to a hospital in critical condition.

Furthermore, the investigation into this Phoenix crash is ongoing and asks anyone who may have seen the incident to please call DPS at 877-2-SAVEAZ (877-272-8329).
