41-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Struck by Car at State Route 163 Off-Ramp

 
HILLCREST, CA (June 11, 2018) – A man was hospitalized in critical condition after a scooter collision on Washington Street, on Monday night. His identity was not immediately disclosed to the public.
 
San Diego Police officers arrived at the scene on Washington Street at the State Route 163 off-ramp, to find a 41-year-old man critically injured in the road.
 
According to reports, the victim was riding a rideshare Bird scooter eastbound on Washington, when struck by a Toyota Prius that was exiting northbound from SR 163. The unidentified man was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. There is no current update on his medical condition at this time.
 
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities during their investigation It is unclear at this time whether or not another vehicle was involved in the collision, a Chevrolet truck. The Chevy driver is unsure if he also hit the scooter rider after he was thrown onto the road.
 
Officials closed off the northbound 163 off-ramp to Washington, and blocked off Washington at 9th avenue, during investigation. They are unsure whether or not the scooterist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. No additional information has been released at this time.
