24-Year-Old Oakland Man Hospitalized after DUI Hit-and-Run Accident at 7th Avenue

 
OAKLAND, CA (November 22, 2018) – Late Tuesday evening, an unidentified Oakland man was hospitalized after a pedestrian crash on East 12th Street. His name and place of residence were not immediately released to the public.
 
Officials with the California State Patrol received calls about an accident that took place on East 12th Street and 7th Avenue, at approximately 10:35 PM. Officers responded to the crash site to find the 24-year-old injured victim in the road.
 
According to reports, the man was crossing the 600 block of East 12th St when, for reasons still under investigation, an eastbound red Hyundai Accent hit him. The driver of the car stopped, but escaped on foot, feeling the scene.
 
Paramedics arrived on site and transported the critically injured pedestrian to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. There is no update on his current medical condition.
 
Later, the suspect driver was later located and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run driving. The identity of the hit-and-run driver was not disclosed by the authorities. There is no further information regarding the incident, as the investigation continues.
