61-Year-Old Man Critically Injured in DUI Crash at 601 N James Street [Wenatchee, WA]

Wenatchee, WA (October 7, 2023) – A 61-year-old male passenger was seriously injured following a DUI Crash at 601 N James Street Tuesday.

East Wenatchee Police officers said the traffic accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. when an intoxicated 50-year-old woman was doing burnouts in a Dodge Challenger Hellcat, a high performance sports car.

The crashed into a tree in someone’s yard while traveling at least 50 mph. The car’s headlights went airborne into a nearby park.

Witnesses stated that a child on a scooter was almost struck by the vehicle.

Moreover, the car owner, 61-year-old man who was riding as a passenger was not buckled up. 

As a result, he flew into windshield and incurred critical injuries that included severe head trauma, a broken leg, broken ribs, etc. The medical team airlifted him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Officers were uncertain about his chances of survival.

The authorities booked the driver for DUI and other charges may be pending. Officers said she sustained minor injuries.
