50-Year-Old Bicyclist Hospitalized after Struck by Vehicle near Tecolote Shores
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 19, 2018) – A man was seriously injured late Tuesday evening following a bicycle collision on East Mission Bay Drive. His identity was not immediately available.
According to the San Diego Police, the collision took place shortly after 11:00 PM in the 1400 block of East Mission Bay Drive near Tecolote Shores. The 50-year-old bicyclist was traveling northbound without any lights when his bicycle was rear-ended by a Nissan 350Z, driven by a 52-year-old man.
The victim was transported to a hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries, while the Nissan driver was reportedly unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigators. Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible factors in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing and will be handled by The San Diego Police Department’s traffic division. No other information was immediately available to the public at this time.
