1 Airlifted after Car Crashes into Tree near on Highway 166 near Kirschenmann Road
CUYAMA, CA (July 3, 2019) – A man suffered injuries after a car crashed into a tree on Highway 166, Wednesday evening.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the incident happened at about 6:00 PM. Due to unknown reasons, a Toyota Tundra struck a tree near Kirschenmann Road. The force of the impact ejected the man from his pickup and caused severe damage to the vehicle.
County Fire paramedics rushed the driver to Cuyama Airport, where he was transported by a CalSTAR helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The extent of his injuries and his current condition remain unknown.
Meanwhile, emergency crews responded to clear the area. The bed of the pickup was completely torn off the cab, leaving the frame, engine, and wheels bare.
Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
