Male Pedestrian Struck and Seriously Injured by Vehicle near Iris Drive

SALINAS, CA (September 18, 2018) – A man was injured early Tuesday morning following a pedestrian crash on North Main Street. The identity of the victim was not immediately available to the public.

According to officials with the Salinas Police Department, the man was crossing the street around 3:30 AM when he was struck by a vehicle near Iris Drive. It is unknown whether or not the pedestrian was in a designated crosswalk.

The victim suffered major injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery. There are no updates on his current medical condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. An investigation is ongoing to determine whether drugs, alcohol, or distracted driving played any role in the collision. No further details have been provided at this time.
