Man Killed, 65-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized in Head-On Crash on State Route 97

 
Wapato, WA (January 02, 2021) – On New Year’s Day, a man in his 60s was killed while a 65-year-old woman was seriously injured in a head-on crash on State Route 97.
 
The fatal incident took place at about 5 P.M.
 
Troopers said a man in a red pickup truck entered the road going the wrong way and struck a truck with a man and a woman in it.
 
The authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
On the other hand, the woman incurred serious injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the rescuers life-flighted the suspect to Harborview with non-fatal injuries.
 
The officers arrested the suspect and alcohol and drugs are considered factors in the crash.
 
Moreover, troopers said an assault incident off 9th street in Yakima may be connected to this accident.
