Daniel Corona Pleads Not Guilty for Fatal DUI Accident on University Avenue
LA MESA, CA (July 29, 2021) – In July, Braden Jockmyhn, 41, died when Daniel Corona, 61, careened into a building in a DUI crash on University Avenue.
The fatal DUI accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m.
La Mesa police Lt. Katy Lynch pinpointed the location as the 7300 block of University Avenue.
Apparently, an officer driving east noticed the vehicle ahead of them driving off the road. Then, the vehicle crashed through the glass windows of a adult daycare facility building.
Indeed, Corona, a La Mesa resident, rammed into the building. As a result, officers say Jockmyhn was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Multiple officers responded and ran inside,” Lynch revealed. “They started rendering aid right away. We had fire department personnel on the scene pretty quickly. Unfortunately, they did pronounce one individual deceased at this time.”
Meanwhile, responders transported the 61-year-old Corona to a local hospital for a broken back. The authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.
Moreover, the suspect pleaded not guilty over the deadly DUI accident. Judge Michelle Ialeggio minimized the bail from $1 million to $250,000, but did not approve supervised release, citing the potential risk to the public.
Sweet Lawyers express its sincere sympathies to the bereaved family of Braden Jockmyhn.
