OAKLAND, CA (February 18, 2021) – Wednesday night, a man died in a pedestrian crash on 27th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
 
According to authorities, the incident occurred at around 6:10 p.m. Moreover, it happened at the intersection of 27th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
 
Reports revealed that an adult male in his 60s living in the area was crossing Foothill using a cane and carrying a shopping bag. Then, a westbound silver vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck the man and fled the scene.
 
Just moments later, an eastbound Chevrolet Volt that is unaware of the incident earlier, struck the victim lying in the road. Then, the vehicle dragged him a short distance from the scene of the first crash.
 
People from the neighborhood responded and remove the Volt to rescue the victim. Afterward, responding firefighters and paramedics attempted life-saving measures. However, the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining grave injuries.
 
Moreover, the driver of the Volt remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities.
 
Authorities ask anyone with information about the suspect vehicle, best described as a silver vehicle with front end damage, to contact officers as soon as possible.
