1 Killed in Pomona Pedestrian Crash on Garey Avenue

POMONA, CA (June 29, 2020) – Early Saturday night, a man died in a pedestrian accident on Garey Avenue.

Lt. Ryan Rodriguez of the Pomona Police Department said that the crash occurred at about 7:45 p.m.

Apparently, a northbound vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian who ran from the east curb across Garey Avenue by Grand Avenue.

When the police located the victim, he was down in the road with head injuries and trauma to the lower half of his body. Rodriguez also added that the man appeared to be in his 30s.

Responders took him to Pomona Valley Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the emergency room.

Meanwhile, the involved driver took and passed an alcohol-sobriety test. Moreover, the authorities do not believe that drugs played a role in the fatal crash.

The incident took place dozens of feet from the intersection. Additionally, the driver stopped at a nearby tire shop.

“The driver was completely cooperative,” Rodriguez said.

PPD’s Major Accident Team is looking for evidence to photograph and diagram the crash site.

Furthermore, the police encourage anyone with information about the crash to contact Pomona police at 909-620-2155.

Our law firm would like to send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this time.

How to Handle Fatal Pedestrian Accident Cases

While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.

In the case of Garey Avenue’s pedestrian crash, the family of the victim must become aware of their rights under the law.

“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents. However, the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries, even fatal injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.

Thus, the victim’s loved ones must know they can take power amidst this tragic situation.
