Police Search for Hit-And-Run Driver after Crash on Fifth Avenue and Ash Street

San Diego, CA (September 28, 2023) – Thursday night, a 22-year-old man suffered injuries in a crash on Fifth Avenue and Ash Street.

The San Diego Police Department said the 22-year-old man riding a scooter on the Fifth Avenue bike path was struck by a vehicle driving west on Ash Street in the downtown area.

The victim suffered a skull fracture and cerebral hemorrhage. 

He was taken to a nearby hospital where his injuries are considered life-threatening, according to police.

Investigators said the driver who fled the scene was believed to be driving an older model of a light blue or light green Toyota Camry with a cracked windshield from the collision.

The driver could have entered onto southbound Interstate 5 from the on-ramp at Sixth Avenue.

No additional information is immediately available.
