SAN MARCOS, CA (October 5, 2020) – Sunday morning, a 26-year-old man was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Bennett Avenue.
 
The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. near Bennett Avenue and West Augusta Drive intersection. Reports revealed that a beige Mercedes-Benz E320 went off the road, crashed into a wall, and head into the west wall of a house.
 
Afterward, the driver tried to flee. However, the people who reported the crash to 911 detained him.
 
According to reports, before the crash, the man reportedly used a hatchet to break the window of a vehicle. This incident happened at a Stater Brothers grocery store at the corner of Bennett Avenue and East Mission Road.
 
Then, he allegedly escaped in his vehicle, ran a stop sign, and crashed with a grey Audi three blocks away. After escaping the crash with the Audi, the vehicle crashed into the house.
 
The authorities believe that the suspect was under the influence of a combination of prescription drugs.
 
At this time, he’s on suspicion of DUI, vandalism, and hit-and-run.
