62-Year-Old Man Killed in DUI Crash on 10 Freeway near Mount Vernon Avenue
COLTON, CA (September 2, 2019) – A 62-year-old man died in a suspected DUI crash on 10 Freeway, Monday morning. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:35 AM. A black 2013 Jeep Wrangler was traveling at approximately 55 mph when it crashed into a silver 2004 Saturn Ion. Then, the Wrangler overturned as a result of the collision.
Emergency responders rushed the Saturn driver to a nearby hospital with major injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries hours after the collision.
Officers later booked the Jeep driver, identified as 30-year-old Jeffrey Ornelas Jr. on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. Records show that Ornelas posted bail at about 2:00 PM with no court appearance scheduled.
