Male Pedestrian Struck and Injured by Car on Fifth Avenue and Cedar Street [San Diego, CA]

1 Injured in San Diego Pedestrian Accident

San Diego, CA (December 10, 2018) – A 65-year-old male pedestrian sustained a fractured hip after being hit by a car while walking across a street on December 7.

It was around 11:00 p.m. when the officers came to respond on Fifth Avenue and Cedar Street and found the injured man, Sgt Michael Tansey of the San Diego Police Department reported.

The investigators were able to determine that the man was walking from the northeast corner of the intersection to the northwest corner on a crosswalk with a green signal. At the same time, a 43-year-old woman in an eastbound gray 2011 Chevy Impala on the 400 block of Cedar Street made a left turn onto Fifth Avenue and hit the male pedestrian, Tansey added.

As a result, the victim was taken to a hospital. Tansey also stated that alcohol or drugs were ruled out as a factor in the collision.
