CHP Investigates Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 178 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (June 17, 2022) – Thursday night, an 80-year-old male pedestrian died in a crash on Highway178.

The fatal crash in Bakersfield happened on June 16, just east of Strecker Street.

CHP said a woman driving a GMC Sierra hit the victim in the second lane of eastbound Highway 178.

The driver called 911 and stayed at the scene.

Officials said there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.

No other information is immediately available.
