Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Head-On Collision near Avenal Cutoff Road

LEMOORE, CA (March 20, 2019) – Major injuries were sustained in a hit-and-run crash on westbound Highway 198, Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at 5:35 AM, just east of Avenal Cutoff Road. Based on an initial report, two unidentified vehicles were involved in the accident. One party came from the eastbound side and, due to an unknown reason, crashed into the vehicle on the westbound side.
The paramedics were requested for needed medical attention. Based on an assessment, the injuries sustained in the head-on collision were serious.
There is currently no description of the hit-and-run driver or the vehicle involved. The search for the suspect is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the police as soon as possible. As the investigation continues, no additional information has been released at this time.
