Luis Vasquez Killed in Head-On Crash on South Main Street [WILLOWBROOK, CA]

Jose Estores Jr. Injured in Fatal Head-On Crash in Willowbrook

 
WILLOWBROOK, CA (June 30, 2019) – A man was killed following a head-on crash Sunday morning in the Athens Village community of unincorporated Los Angeles County.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:40 a.m., at the intersection of South Main Street and East El Segundo Boulevard. Dispatchers arrived shortly after.
 
According to reports, a 2002 GMC, driven by 50-year-old Luis Vasquez, was stopped in the left turn lane at Main Street.
 
Meanwhile, a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 60-year-old Jose Estores Jr. of Lakewood, was traveling west on El Segundo Boulevard. He was approaching Main Street at undetermined speed when he veered left for unknown reasons. He then collided head-on with the GMC.
 
As a result, Vasquez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Estores was rushed to an area hospital with a hairline fracture to a leg.
 
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
