Marvin Hernandez Killed in Turlock Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 99 by Lander Avenue

 
TURLOCK, CA (June 3, 2021) – Tuesday night, a DUI driver died and Luis Torres Perez was injured in a suspected DUI crash on Highway 99 near Lander Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, they received reports about a red Ford Focus traveling in the wrong direction. The reports said that the incident happened on Highway 99, north of Lander Avenue.
 
Then, the CHP found the driver passed out inside the vehicle in the center median. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s engine remained running while it’s stopped.
 
Authorities attempted to make contact with the driver. However, the driver woke up and fled the scene. Then, the driver collided with a patrol car before driving away, heading northbound in the southbound lane. Officers said that they saw beer bottles on the floorboard of the vehicle.
 
Afterward, the Ford collided head-on with a southbound Chevrolet pickup in the fast lane of Highway 99, north of Fulkerth Road.
 
Moreover, paramedics pronounced the 43-year-old San Francisco man driving the Ford, dead at the scene. Responders transported the driver and a passenger of the Chevy to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, officials believe that the Ford driver was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Also, CHP closed a portion of southbound Highway 99 for eight hours to give way to the investigation.
