Luis Mendoza Dies, 13-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Hacienda Heights Crash

 
Hacienda Heights, CA (July 04, 2021) – On Saturday, 35-year-old Luis Mendoza of La Puente died and a 13-year-old passenger were injured in a crash on 60 Freeway.
 
The authorities responded to the crash scene a little before 12:30 near East 7th Avenue.
 
When they arrived, a witness told the officers that a gray car opened fire at a white Chevrolet Avalanche.
 
Apparently, due to the shooting, the Mendoza, the Chevrolet driver lost control of the pickup truck and crashed into another vehicle.
 
Unfortunately, Mendoza died at the accident scene.
 
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old and a 13-year-old passengers were inside the Chevrolet Avalanche during the incident. The 13-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash.
 
As of Saturday evening, officers said it is unknown if road rage played a factor in the fatal crash. No arrests have been announced in the shooting.
