66-Year-Old Toppenish Man Hospitalized after Single-Vehicle Accident near Sagehill Road

OTHELLO, WA (November 15, 2018) – A man was injured early Thursday evening following a solo-car crash near Sagehill Road. The victim was later identified as 66-year-old Lorenzo Ontiveros, a resident of Toppenish.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened shortly after 5:00 PM. A 1997 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by the victim, was heading west on Highway 24 when it left the roadway and rolled over before coming to rest on its right side.

Ontiveros had to be extricated from his vehicle by fire and aid personnel. He was then transported to Othello Community Hospital for treatment of a possible broken jaw and cheekbone. Authorities also confirmed that the driver suffered a concussion.

Investigators believe that Ontiveros had an unspecified medical emergency at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
