1 Dead and 2 Injured in Gerlach Car Accident on Highway 447
GERLACH, NV (August 27, 2019) – A 61-year-old man died in a car accident on Highway 447 on August 25.
Lonnie Richey of Carson City died at the scene and the cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), the incident happened at CR-34 and Highway 447 after noon.
WCSO revealed that a pickup with one occupant headed south on CR-34. As it drove across the double yellow lines, the pickup hit a northbound RV with two occupants.
The pickup driver, Lonnie Richey, died at the scene. Meanwhile, the two RV occupants received treatment at the scene for injuries.
According to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD), fire and rescue crews came to the scene.
Authorities added that fatigue possibly played a role in the crash. Meanwhile, drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the collision.
