25-Year-Old Male Passenger Dies in Late Evening Rollover Crash in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (May 13, 2019) – A 25-year-old Long Beach man was killed after he was ejected from an SUV late Monday evening in Long Beach.
 
At around 11:36 p.m., the man was a passenger in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer heading northbound on 710 Freeway at Del Amo Boulevard when one of its tires blew out.
 
The SUV struck an asphalt curb, went off the freeway and hit several bushes and a chain-link fence before it landed on its roof in the Metro Blue Line rail yard.
 
The man tried to walk but then complained he couldn’t breath and his chest hurt, authorities said. It doesn’t appear that he had been wearing a seat belt.
 
Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he later died. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
 
The 28-year-old female driver was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
 
Further investigation of this incident is underway.
