Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck on Highway 99 in Livingston

LIVINGSTON, CA (November 19, 2018) – A man was killed after being struck by a pickup truck late Monday afternoon in Livingston, authorities said.

The fatal crash happened around 5:17 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Highway 99 at Winton Parkway off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking in the center divider of the highway then walked into the first lane directly toward the path of an oncoming 2018 Ford F-150, driven by a 58-year-old Ronnie Williams of Hanford, that was traveling southbound on the second lane at 65 mph.

Williams was not able to avoid the pedestrian and struck him, according to the news release.

The pedestrian, only identified as a 57-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Williams and his passenger, Sharon Williams, 66, of Hanford, were unharmed. They were both wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Both southbound lanes of Highway 99 were closed for the on-scene investigation and traffic was diverted onto the right shoulder. Both lanes were re-opened about an hour later.

Drugs and/or alcohol were not being ruled out as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
