Afternoon 2-Car Wreck on 580 Freeway in Livermore Leaves One Injured

LIVERMORE, CA (February 14, 2019) – One person was injured following a two-car crash Thursday afternoon in Livermore.

The crash happened around 12:46 p.m. on eastbound 580 Freeway at Greenville Road off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Chevrolet Camaro and a black Acura were involved for unknown reasons. When officers arrived, both cars were on the right shoulder and one occupant suffered internal injuries as a result of the crash.

An ambulance unit was dispatched to the scene and took the injured patient to a hospital. The identity and condition of the victim were not immediately available.

Towing services were requested to remove both vehicles from the wreckage.

Fire crews blocked the fourth and fifth lanes of the freeway while they worked on the scene. All lanes were re-opened roughly around 1:55 p.m.

An investigation is still ongoing to determine who was at fault and to gather all the factors involved in the accident.

It is important to drive safely and defensively whenever you drive on a multilane highway or freeway. Use your mirrors, turn signals, and check your blind spot every time you change lanes. If you are driving slowly compared to the other vehicles, stay in the right lane unless you decide to pass a vehicle in front of you. Lastly, give yourself plenty of braking room if you are trailing a vehicle.
