63-Year-Old Anderson Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Happy Valley Road
ANDERSON, CA (August 22, 2018) – A woman was killed late Wednesday evening following a pedestrian collision on Highway 273. The victim was later identified by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office as 63-year-old Anderson resident, Linda Sue Reed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 10:00 PM near Happy Valley Road. Reed was crossing southbound on the 273 freeway when she was struck by a Honda sedan.
The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Redding woman driving the sedan did not sustain injuries. Authorities confirmed that she remained at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation.
Authorities continue to investigate to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
