Linda Pike and Jesus Guzman Injured, Man Dead in Possible DUI Head-On Crash on East Sahara Avenue Near Palm Street
LAS VEGAS, NV (July 8, 2019) – A man lost his life in a suspected DUI head-on collision on East Sahara Avenue near Palm Street Sunday morning.
According to Las Vegas police officers, the incident unfolded around 5:52 a.m. Witnesses informed officers that a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox traveling westbound on Sahara Avenue collided with an eastbound 2015 Camaro.
It appears the eastbound Camaro failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crossed the raised concrete median before entering the opposing lanes. There, both vehicles collided head-on in the westbound side.
As a result of the crash, the 62-year-old Equinox driver—Linda Pike of Las Vegas—and the 23-year-old Camaro driver—Jesus Guzman—suffered life-threatening injuries. A male passenger in the Camaro, unfortunately, passed away at the scene.
According to Las Vegas Police, neither Guzman nor his male passenger was wearing a seat belt at the time.
After Guzman displayed signs of intoxication at the scene, authorities learned that impairment might have played a role.
