Jamaal Tyree Madden Arrested for Palmdale Hit-and-Run Accident on Rancho Vista Boulevard

Palmdale, CA (June 10, 2021) On June 9, a fiery hit-and-run crash killed two people on 11th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard.

As of June 19, an 18-year-old Jamaal Tyree Madden has been arrested in connection to the fatal accident.

This comes following the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department circulation of a photo of the teen.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Madden’s Dodge Challenger allegedly drove at more than 100 mph when it slammed into a Toyota Corolla, killing both a driver and passenger.

Police believe the Madden had been street racing when it rear-ended the Toyota. Then, it knocked over a light pole.

Furthermore, responding firefighters rushed to the scene in the area of 11th Street and Rancho Vista Boulevard.

They began to put out the Toyota, that had caught fire. According to reports, the fire had spread out to nearby vegetation.

Shortly after, responders pronounced the two individuals in the Toyota, ride share driver Lesther Deleon and mom of 4 Spechelle Pope, dead at the scene.

Mr. Deleon, who also worked as a soccer coach, was driving Ms. Pope to the grocery store via a Lyft ride.

The driver of the Dodge fled the scene, and police found the vehicle nearby. A witness said they saw the suspect driver jump into an infiniti when escaping.

Madden has since been arrested and booked at the Century Station jail with a $1 million bail, according to his LASD inmate record.
The Palmdale hit and run continues to be under active investigation.
