Leslie Eckman Dead, Chris Sombounvong Injured in Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 5 [Ridgefield, WA]

1 Killed and 1 Hospitalized in Ridgefield Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 5

 
RIDGEFIELD, WA (May 31, 2021) – Saturday night, Leslie Eckman died while Chris Sombounvong sustained injuries in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 5.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at around 11:00 p.m on Interstate 5.
 
Reports revealed that 29-year-old Leslie M. Eckman and 41-year-old Chris Sombounvong both rode their motorcycle on northbound Interstate 5.
 
Then, both motorcyclists lost control while approaching a slow-moving car. Then, Sombounvong rear-ended the car, and both motorcyclists were ejected.
 
Sombounvong ended near the right shoulder of the road. Meanwhile, Eckman came into rest in the left lane. Afterward, a vehicle traveling in the left lane struck Eckman.
 
Thus, responders pronounced Eckman dead at the scene. On the other hand, paramedics transported Sombounvong to a hospital with unknown injuries.
 
Also, Sombounvong is facing unknown charges.
 
The events leading to the crash are under investigation.
 
The incident closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 5 but has long since reopened.
