27-Year-Old Leopold Leon Arrested in Police Chase on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard

 
Riverside, CA (February 23, 2021) – On Sunday, police arrested 27-year-old Leopold Leon in a police chase on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.
 
The incident took place at about 6 p.m. when two officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black GMC Denali on Sedgewick Avenue.
 
Leon, the Denali driver failed to stop and led the officers on a brief pursuit.
 
Furthermore, he drove on the wrong side of the road and crashed into a black Ford Explorer at the intersection of Kansas Avenue.
 
When officers arrived at the crash scene, Leon reversed the Denali and rammed the police vehicle that lead to a police shooting.
 
Subsequently, rescuers safely removed the Explorer driver, a 60-year-old woman who incurred a broken clavicle and ribs.
 
They took her to a local hospital.
 
Later on, officers removed Leon from his vehicle and took him into custody. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, being a felon in possession of firearms, and evading police causing injuries. Also, hit and run causing injuries and violation of parole were included on the charge against him.
 
Officers took him to a local hospital for gunfire injuries.
 
Meanwhile, officers closed the intersection to all traffic for the investigation.
