1 Dead in Lancaster Auto Accident on Avenue K and 17th Street

 
LANCASTER, CA (June 8, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, Leonel Tovar Melgar died in a single-vehicle crash on Avenue K and 17th Street.
 
The fatal incident occurred at about 4:46 p.m. near Avenue K and 17th Street Wast.
 
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified 27-year-old Leonel Tovar Melgar of Palmdale as the victim of the crash.
 
“Preliminary investigation indicates a male adult in a Honda was traveling eastbound on Avenue K. He reportedly lost control of his vehicle near 17th Street East. The Honda crossed over the raised center median. Then, he entered into opposing westbound lanes of travel on Avenue K,” reports revealed.
 
As a result, responders transported the unidentified driver to a local hospital for treatment. At this time, the extent of his injuries remains undisclosed.
 
Meanwhile, the responding paramedics declared the Honda front passenger, Leonel Melgar, dead at the scene.
 
“The cause of the collision is still being investigated. The speed of this collision is still under investigation. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role,” stated the sheriff’s news release.
 
Also, the authorities urged anyone with information about the crash to call the traffic investigators at Lancaster Sheriff Station at 661-948-8466.
