Armed Robbery Attempt Leads to Los Angeles Multi-Vehicle Accident on Coldwater Canyon Avenue

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 12, 2023) – Wednesday, a 3-car wreck on Coldwater Canyon Avenue involving Lee Dawson led to injuries.

The incident happened when Dawson in a tan Bentley with a female passenger pulled into a driveway on Coldwater Canyon Avenue and 101 Freeway. As they pick up a friend, a masked gunman demanded money and jewelry.

Then, the driver put his car in reverse and started backing away. However, they hit a woman in her 70s driving a red sedan.

The impact sent both vehicles crashing into a parked car.

Officers confirmed that the gunman fired at least two shots. Luckily, no one was hit.

Then, the suspect entered a waiting vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, and fled the scene.

LAPD Capt. Marla Ciuffetelli revealed that the driver of the Bentley was specifically targeted. They noted that “he did have nice jewelry and he was in a nice vehicle.”

The driver said, “This is America, L.A., you’ve got to keep your head on a swivel.”

Meanwhile, responders took the woman whose car was struck by the Bentley to a hospital with minor injuries.

Then, officers impounded another vehicle that was parked at a nearby gas station. The investigators suspect that it was abandoned there by the gunman.
