One Killed after Collision with Semi-Truck on Southbound I-5 near Fort Tejon Road
LEBEC, CA (March 8, 2018) – A fatal accident was reported on southbound Interstate 5 just south of Fort Tejon Road, on Thursday morning before 11 AM.
According to officials, a car driving on the southbound lanes of the highway tried to pass a semi-truck, and ended up rear-ending the trailer. The driver appeared to be pinned under the vehicle.
One lane was closed at around 11:10 AM, and remained closed for several hours. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the crash and pronounced the elderly victim dead. The coroner was called around 11:30; no other injuries were reported.
No other information has been provided by authorities regarding the cause of the collision at this time. The identity of the victim is being withheld until notification of his family.
