PORT ANGELES, WA (August 14, 2024) – Monday afternoon, 34-year-old Leah Nyakundi died in a tragic accident on US Highway 101.

The incident happened at around 1:40 p.m. on US Highway 101, east of Delguzzi Drive.

Nyakundi was traveling east on U.S. Highway 101, just past Delguzzi Drive, when she collided with the rear of another vehicle going in the same direction, according to the State Patrol. Despite the impact, she continued driving eastward before crossing the center line, leaving the highway, and crashing into a westbound ditch where her vehicle rolled and hit a tree.

Authorities have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were involved.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
