Lovie Shorter Arrested After Fatal Accident on Las Plumas Avenue and Lower Wyandotte Road
OROVILLE, CA (January 21, 2018) – Early Sunday morning around 1:38 AM, a fatal and possible DUI accident took place on the intersection of Las Plumas Avenue and Lower Wyandotte Road.
A 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Lovie Shorter of Oroville, was travelling eastbound on Las Plumas Ave approaching Lower Wyandotte Rd, when it ran a red light. A 2013 Toyota Tacoma going northbound on Lower Wyandotte Rd, driven by 65-year-old Laurence Jeska of Oroville, was approaching the Las Plumas Ave intersection and got hit by the Chevy.
Jeska was the only occupant of the Toyota, and died from injuries sustained in the crash. Shorter and his passenger, Pamela Bochantin, had minor injuries. According to police reports, Shorter was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter.
The incident is still under investigation by authorities. Witnesses of the fatal crash are asked to call (530) 538-2700 with any additional information they may have.
