2 Killed and 1 Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision near Harper Lake Road

HINKLEY, CA (September 23, 2018) – Two people were killed early Sunday morning following a two-car crash near Harper Lake Road. The victims were later identified as 34-year-old Lashan Dinkins of Lancaster and 26-year-old KC Browner of Palmdale.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 2:10 AM. The victims were sitting inside a 2001 Hyundai sedan that was stopped on the right shoulder of the westbound Highway 58. There, a 2006 Dodge 3500 pickup truck slammed into the parked sedan.

Dinkins and Browner sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Barstow Community Hospital for treatment. There is no update on his current medical condition.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the Dodge driver lost control of his vehicle before colliding with the victims’ sedan. However, the reason why the sedan was stopped on the highway remains unknown at this time. Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact CHP’s Barstow Office by calling (760) 255-5900. No further details have been disclosed to the public by officials.
