Pilot Larry Voit Killed, Big Rig Occupant Hospitalized in San Pedro Plane Crash

 
San Pedro, CA (February 19, 2021) – On Friday, Larry Voit lost his life, while another sustained severe injuries in a plane versus big rig crash at the Port of Los Angeles.
 
The fatal crash occurred at about 12 p.m. in an isolated area of the port. The exact location is said to be in the 2500 block of South Navy Way.
 
Right away, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, wherein a vehicle was trapped.
 
Unfortunately, the pilot of the single-engine plane, Larry Voit, 53, of Gardena, died at the scene.
 
Also, prior to the rescuers arriving at the scene, bystanders helped remove the man from the wrecked plane. They performed CPR on him under instruction by emergency dispatch until first responders arrived.
 
Meanwhile, authorities said a semi-truck occupant, a man in his 30s, was severely injured. Rescuers rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
 
Officers withheld the identity of the injured patient.
 
Furthermore, firefighters secured the area by preventing the small amount of spilled fuel from spreading.
 
Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board investigates the incident.
