19-Year-Old Man Trapped and Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash between Canyon Hills and Grape Street
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (April 1, 2018) – A fiery single-vehicle crash at Railroad Canyon Road ended the life of an unidentified 19-year-old man from Lake Elsinore, on Sunday night.
According to Lake Elsinore police report, the incident happened at around 7:30 PM at Railroad Canyon Road and Church Street. They found a Honda sedan that crashed into a power pole and fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene of the accident.
Good Samaritans came running to the scene to help any occupants in the vehicle. The entire rescue attempt was caught on video. A lot of the witnesses pulled over and got out of their vehicles to provide any sort of assistance. Some of them were willing to get near the flames to smash the car with any objects in order to break through an opening.
The sedan’s 19-year-old driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Despite several life-saving measures and attempts by responding paramedics, the victim succumbed to his injuries. A bystander was evaluated for minor injuries from the scene, but refused hospitalization.
Railroad Canyon, specifically between Canyon Hills and Grape Street, was shut down for nearly six hours for the investigation. It later reopened Monday afternoon after the utility company repaired damaged poles and lines.
The cause of the collision is still unknown, but Alcohol and Drugs are not considered as contributing factors. The victim’s identity remains undisclosed while waiting for the notification of his next kin.
