Kyu Chen of Irvine Dies in Sand Canyon Avenue DUI Crash [Irvine, CA]

Irvine, CA (September 28, 2021) – On Monday, 61-year-old Kyu Chen of Irvine dies, and police arrested 21-year-old Luis Marcial Diaz, also of Irvine, in a DUI crash on Sand Canyon Avenue.

The fatal crash took place at about 4:10 a.m. at the intersection with Irvine Center Drive.

The authorities said Chen was driving a Toyota Prius, while Diaz was driving a Mercedes-Benz C300, when the two vehicles crashed.

Officers arrested Chen on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
