Korson Coulter Dies, Nicholas Utne Involved in Vehicle Crash on Highway 299 [Trinity River, CA]

Korson Coulter Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 299

 
Trinity River, CA (January 19, 2021) – On Monday, 21-year-old Korson Coulter of Weaverville died, while 35-year-old Nicholas Utne of Redding was involved in a vehicle crash on Highway 299.
 
The fatal two-vehicle crash took place at about 8:10 A.M.
 
Utne was driving a Ford pickup westbound, entering a right curve in the roadway.
 
At the same time, Coulter was driving a Chevrolet pickup eastbound, approaching a left curve in the same roadway.
 
For reasons still unidentified, Utne switched his attention from the roadway.
 
As a result, his Ford pickup to swerved from the westbound lane and into the eastbound lane and went directly into the path of Coulter.
 
The crash impact caused the Chevrolet pickup to descend down a dirt embankment while the Ford pickup continued in a southwest direction and blocked the eastbound lane of the roadway.
 
Unfortunately, Coulter lost his life in the crash.
 
On the other hand, Utne did not sustain injuries from the crash.
 
Authorities do not consider alcohol or drugs as factors in this accident.
 
The California Highway Patrol reminds drivers that even a second of inattention while driving can have deadly consequences.
