DPS Arrest Driver in Amarillo Fatal Crash
Amarillo, TX (October 15, 2024) – 59-year-old Kiattisack Chanthavong was killed in a DWI crash on North Side Drive Sunday night.
It was about 7:30 p.m. when 64-year-old Soukanh Mounivong was driving a northbound 2004 Infinity G35 at an unsafe speed.
DPS says Mounivong failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the car.
Police said the car drove off the roadway, entered a side-skid and rolled over several times.
Afterward, the car struck a guardrail while rolling over and it finally stopped upside down on the grassy shoulder.
The passenger, Kiattisack Chanthavong, was declared deceased at the scene.
Police arrested Mounivong for intoxication manslaughter and booked into the Potter County Jail.
In the meantime, officers are doing a further investigation on this case.
