70-Year-Old Man Critically Injured in T-bone Crash on Labounty Drive at Slater Road
FERNDALE, WA (June 26, 2018) – A man of Bellingham was seriously injured in a truck collision on Labounty Drive after his pickup truck crashed into a garbage truck Tuesday afternoon.
Kenneth W. Pridachuk, 70, was driving a gold 2001 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on LaBounty Drive near Recycling & Disposal Services, Inc. when it collided with a stop sign and crossed onto Slater Road. The Sanitary Services Company (SSC) garbage truck, driven by 38-year-old Dennis W. Joy of Blaine, hit Pridachuk’s truck and pushed it into a ditch along the road.
Pridachuk sustained critical injuries and was transported by a Whatcom County Fire District 7 aid unit to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in critical condition.
Slater Road was closed between Rural Avenue and Ferndale Road for several hours while the accident was investigated. No citations were immediately made but the the Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the incident.
