78-Year-Old Kelseyville Woman Hospitalized in Accident near Main Street

KELSEYVILLE, CA (June 19, 2018) – An elderly woman was hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision that started a small fire near Main Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 4:55 PM. 48-year-old Joshua West of Richmond, was driving a 2008 Freightliner heading northbound on Highway 29 when he lost control of the semi-truck. West allowed the vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic, where he collided with a southbound 2002 Subaru, driven by 78-year-old KC Patrick of Kelseyville.

The impact of the collision sent the Subaru out of control down an embankment, while the semi-truck continued to plow through a fence and multiple trees in the area. Patrick sustained minor injuries and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, while West was reportedly unharmed. There is no current update on Patrick’s condition at this time.

Around 6:20 PM, the Freightliner caught fire, causing a total shutdown of Highway 29. The fire started while responders were waiting for a Ukiah tow truck to remove the wrecked semi, according to Kelseyville Fire. Affected areas were later reopened at 8:20 PM.
