Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Slater Road Leaves Katrina Sampson Dead

 
Ferndale, WA (December 17, 2020) – A woman named Katrina Sampson died following a pedestrian vs pickup crash on Slater Road on Sunday night.
 
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, the tragic accident took place on November 29 at about 5 p.m.
 
Moreover, WSP identified the now-deceased victim as Katrina J. Sampson, 27, of Blaine.
 
After an investigation, it was found that Sampson was walking eastbound on Slater Road between Beach Way and Lake Terrel Road.
 
Then, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup going eastbound suddenly struck her.
 
According to WCFD17 Fire Chief Jim Petrie, the Whatcom County Fire District 17 (WCFD17) crews
found the woman in a watery ditch alongside the road.
 
Subsequently, medics transported Sampson to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center under advance life support protocols (ALS).
 
It is still unclear what caused the collision; however, witnesses saw Sampson wearing dark clothes an hour after sunset when she was struck. Moreover, WSP says it is unknown whether the incident involved alcohol or drugs.

Meanwhile, the 44-year-old male pickup driver from Ferndale and his passenger did not sustain any injuries. Furthermore, there have been no charges made against the driver.
