Kathy Rodriguez Injured in Highway 198 Fatal Collision [Hanford, CA]

Rider Dies in Collision Near 7th Avenue

Hanford, CA (June 25, 2023) – On Saturday, 49-year-old Kathy Rodriguez was injured following a Highway 198 fatal collision.

The traffic accident took place past  12:45 p.m. near 7th Avenue. 

Officers said 18-year-old Juan Estrada was driving his 1999 Toyota pickup truck eastbound on the freeway. At the same time, a 52-year-old motorcyclist and his passenger, Kathy Rodriguez, were westbound.

Officers said Estrada veered to his left traveled across a dirt center median and crashed head-on with the motorcycle.

Unfortunately, the motorcyclist died at the scene.

Moreover, the paramedics airlifted Rodriguez to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The authorities said both Rodriguez and the motorcycle driver were wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Estrada was not wearing his seatbelt but was not injured.

In the meantime, the authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The use of drugs and/or alcohol is not suspected in this fatal incident.
