3 Big Rigs and Pickup Truck Collide on Highway 99 Killing Two
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 1, 2019) – Two people were killed following a multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Bakersfield.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 99, just south of Rosedale Highway.
According to the CHP, three semi trucks and a red 2010 Dodge pickup truck were involved in the crash. One of the semi trucks failed to yield to traffic and ended up hitting the Dodge and another semi, causing a chain-reaction crash. The Dodge became sandwiched between two big rigs.
As a result, two occupants in the Dodge died at the scene. Authorities identified them as 75-year-old Luther Goleman of Lemoore and 62-year-old Kathy Jane McNutt of Delano.
Hazmat crews cleaned up 200 gallons of diesel spilled onto the roadway from one of the trucks.
A GoFundMe has been set up in order to help pay for the funeral services of Kathy Mcnutt and the rest of the money raised will go to the family of Luther Goleman.
CHP officials are still investigating the crash.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones and friends of Kathy McNutt and Luther Goleman.
